The Maid Was Slapped For Stealing Money, Until The Children Begged Their Father To Check The Camera

The maid was accused of stealing five thousand dollars from her employer’s office.

He slapped her before she could defend herself.

Then his two children ran in crying and shouted, “Dad, check the security camera before you blame her.”

I was folding laundry upstairs when Mr. Harrison shouted my name.

“Maria!”

His voice made my hands freeze.

I hurried downstairs with a basket pressed against my hip.

Mr. Harrison was standing in the living room with his wallet open on the coffee table.

His wife, Vanessa, stood beside him, watching me too closely.

“My money is gone,” Mr. Harrison said.

I looked at the wallet.

“What money, sir?”

“Five thousand dollars from my office drawer.”

My throat tightened.

“I did not touch your office drawer.”

Vanessa sighed.

“She cleaned that room this morning.”

I turned to her.

“You asked me to.”

Mr. Harrison stepped closer.

“Do not twist this.”

“I am not lying,” I said.

He grabbed my wrist.

The laundry basket fell, and clean clothes spilled across the floor.

“Where is it?”

“I don’t know.”

His face hardened.

Then he slapped me.

The room went silent.

My cheek burned.

Vanessa whispered, “Maybe now she’ll tell the truth.”

I looked at Mr. Harrison with tears in my eyes.

“Please check the cameras.”

He laughed bitterly.

“Now you want to act innocent?”

Before I could answer, two small voices screamed from the hallway.

“Dad, stop!”

His son Caleb and daughter Emma ran into the room barefoot.

Emma was crying so hard she could barely breathe.

Caleb stood in front of me with shaking hands.

“Maria didn’t steal it.”

Mr. Harrison froze.

“What are you talking about?”

Vanessa snapped, “Go back upstairs.”

Caleb shook his head.

“No. You have to see the camera.”

Vanessa’s face changed.

Emma pointed toward the office.

“We saw someone go in there.”

Mr. Harrison looked at his children.

“Who?”

Caleb swallowed.

“I don’t want to say it wrong.”

Vanessa rushed toward him.

“Give me that tablet.”

Caleb hid it behind his back.

Mr. Harrison caught Vanessa’s arm.

“Why are you trying to take it?”

She went pale.

The whole room became quiet.

Caleb lifted the tablet with trembling fingers.

“I saved it before someone deleted it.”

I covered my mouth.

Mr. Harrison stared at the screen as the security footage began to load.

Then Caleb whispered, “Dad… the person had your spare key.”
