Chapter 7

The transition was hard.

I walked into Michael's old office—now my office—and sat at his desk.

Everything smelled like him. Like lies and betrayal.

I had it cleaned. Thoroughly.

I brought in my own things. My own pictures. My own vision.

I started making changes.

New HR policies. Transparency initiatives. Protection for whistleblowers.

I promoted people who had been overlooked. I fired people who had been part of the corruption.

And I made sure Victoria got immunity for her testimony—but also that she faced consequences for her part in framing me.

She lost her license. She had to pay restitution. She had to do community service.

It wasn't prison. But it was something.

And Michael?

He was arrested. Charged with fraud, embezzlement, and conspiracy.

His assets were frozen. His reputation was destroyed.

Charlotte got everything in the divorce.

And she used some of that money to fund a new program at the company.

A program to support employees who had been harassed or framed.

She named it after me.
