Chapter 4

I stood there, holding the resignation letter, watching two people's lives unravel before my eyes.

And I realized something.

I wasn't just a witness.

I was the key.

Victoria had framed me. Michael had allowed it. They'd both used me as a pawn in their twisted game.

But now—now the pawn was holding the evidence.

"Charlotte," I said quietly. "You need to call your lawyer. And the board. And the police."

She looked at me. The anger in her eyes had turned to something else. Respect. Gratitude.

She nodded.

She pulled out her phone and stepped into the hallway.

Victoria sank back onto the desk, sobbing.

Michael stood there, defeated.

He looked at me.

"Claire," he said. "I can make this right. I'll give you a promotion. A raise. Whatever you want. Just... don't say anything else."

I looked at him.

At the man who had allowed me to be publicly humiliated. Who had let his wife slap me in front of everyone. Who had been stealing from the company I worked so hard for.

"I don't want your promotion," I said. "I don't want your money. I want the truth. And I want justice."

I turned and walked out of his office.

The whole office was still watching.

I looked at them all. At my colleagues. At the people who had whispered about me. Who had judged me.

"I did not have an affair with Michael," I said, loud and clear. "I was framed. By Victoria. With his permission. The truth is coming out. And you will all know soon enough."

I walked back to my desk. Picked up my glasses. Put them on.

And I waited.
