Chapter 3

Victoria stood up.
Her hands were shaking.
"He told me we'd be together," she whispered. "He told me he'd leave you. That we'd start a new life. That the resignation was just a formality until we were ready."
She looked at Michael, betrayal written all over her face.
"You were going to fire me," she said. "You were going to make me the villain."
Michael stepped forward, hands raised.
"Victoria, let me explain—"
"Explain what?" she screamed. "That you used me? That you made me frame an innocent woman? That you were going to destroy my career to save yours?"
She grabbed her phone from the desk. Held it up.
"I have everything," she said. "Every text. Every email. Every promise you made. And I have the bank records. The ones showing the money you've been siphoning from the company."
The room went dead silent.
Charlotte's eyes widened.
"What money?"
Victoria turned to her.
"He's been stealing from the company for two years," she said. "Millions. Hidden in offshore accounts. I helped him. Because I thought we'd share it. I thought we'd build a life together."

She laughed bitterly.
"Instead, he was going to leave me with nothing. And keep it all for himself."
