The board wanted the scandal contained.

Maya refused.

Victor Hayes was terminated following substantiated findings of harassment, retaliation, and misconduct. Prior handling of complaints failed our employees. We are reopening those matters and correcting the record.

Maya read the sentence three times.

“Failed our employees,” she whispered.

“Yes.”

“They finally wrote it.”
