Chapter 19

Years passed.
The main house sold on my terms.
Not Daniel’s.
Not Victor’s.
Mine.
I bought a smaller place near work.
Simple.
Sunlit.
No rooms haunted by Madison’s perfume or Daniel’s lies.
I kept one thing from the old house.
Not the robe.
Not the wedding photo.
My mother’s vase.
Police found it in Madison’s car, wrapped in a towel.
She claimed Daniel told her I did not want it.
Of course he did.
I placed it on my new dining table.
Filled it with grocery store flowers.

Nothing expensive.
Just alive.
