Chapter 8

Round three.
I was bleeding from a cut above my eye.
Marcus was breathing hard.
Vincent was on his feet, yelling encouragement.
The crowd was in a frenzy.
This was it.
The signal.
Marcus grabbed me. Threw me against the cage.
And then he whispered in my ear.
"Now."
He raised his fist.
And instead of hitting me...
He pointed at Vincent.
And yelled at the top of his lungs.
"VINCENT GALLO IS A MURDERER!"
The crowd went quiet.
Confused.
Marcus turned to the camera that Vincent always had rolling.
"He inflates hospital bills!" he shouted. "He forces desperate people to fight! He makes us kill each other! And he holds our families hostage!"
I pulled the small recording device Mickey had given me from my waistband.
Held it up.
"And I have proof!"
Vincent's face went white.
He reached for his radio.
But it was too late.
Sirens wailed outside.
Loud. Getting closer.
Red and blue lights flashed through the warehouse windows.
The crowd panicked. Started running.
Vincent tried to escape.
But Marcus jumped out of the cage and tackled him to the ground.
Police poured in.
Officers. Detectives. Reporters.
Cameras everywhere.
May you like
Vincent was handcuffed. Screaming. Threatening.
But no one was listening.
