Chapter 2

I stared at the small black device in his other hand.

A second phone.

And on its screen—an open group chat.

Names I recognized. Names of other girls I'd seen him with. Names of girls he'd told me were "just friends" or "crazy exes."

Messages scrolling by.

*Did she fall for it?*

*Is the fight good?*

Ryan saw me looking. He tried to hide the phone behind his back. Too late.

"You've done this before," I said, my voice hollow.

Olivia smirked. "A few times. You're by far the best reaction though."

Ryan laughed, nervous now. "Sarah, don't be like that. It's just content. Everyone does it."

"Content?" I whispered. "My humiliation is content to you?"

Olivia rolled her eyes. "Please. You should be flattered. He picked you because you were the most convincing."

I looked at her. Really looked at her.

"And you?" I said. "You're okay with this? Helping him manipulate other women? Destroying their feelings for views?"

She crossed her arms. "It's just business. And besides... you should have known better than to trust a guy like him."

"I did trust him," I said quietly. "That was my mistake."
