Chapter 1

I showed up at my boyfriend's apartment in Miami and his ex threw water in my face before I even knocked.

I stood there dripping, my favorite blouse ruined, as Olivia laughed and called me a desperate homewrecker.

Before I could process what was happening, she lunged and grabbed a fistful of my hair.

I cried out and pushed her back hard.

She stumbled and slammed into the elevator door with a loud thud.

I stood there shaking, my heart pounding, as she glared at me from the floor.

That's when I started banging on Ryan's door.

"Ryan! Get out here right now!" I screamed.

The door swung open and Ryan stepped out, looking between both of us.

But something was wrong.

He wasn't surprised.

He wasn't even angry.

He looked almost... pleased.

"What is going on?" I demanded, pointing at Olivia. "She attacked me!"

Olivia stood up and smoothed her hair, then looked at Ryan.

"Did you get that on camera?" she asked.

I froze.

Camera?

Ryan reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.

He held it up, the red recording light still blinking.

"You two were perfect," he said, smiling. "The water throw, the hair pull, the push into the elevator—gold."

I stared at him, unable to breathe.

"You... you invited both of us here?" I whispered.

"Same time," he said proudly. "I told Olivia you were coming to confront her. Told you she was waiting for me. I needed this clip to go viral."

Olivia laughed and walked over to him.

"Don't look so shocked, Sarah," she said. "We needed a third person who actually cared enough to fight."

Ryan put his arm around Olivia.

"The fans are gonna love this," he said. "Two beautiful women fighting over me? We'll hit a million views by morning."

I looked from his smiling face to hers.

They had planned this together.

Every insult.

Every shove.

Every moment of my humiliation was staged for their entertainment.

And the worst part?

I had played my part perfectly.

I was just about to say something when I noticed something in Ryan's hand.

It wasn't just his phone.

May you like

He was holding something else.

Something that made my blood run cold.
